Women's Lacrosse Places Four on Academic All-District Team

Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced on Tuesday, June 16. Grace Barber, Jordan Doyle, Sophie Hartl and Ella Spooner each earned the honor.

To earn the distinction of CSC Academic All-District honors, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and play in 90% of the team's games or start in at least 66% of the team's games.

A sophomore defender from Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Central), Barber played and started 18 games for the Hornets this season. She collected 15 caused turnovers and 13 ground balls on the season. This is her first Academic All-District honor.

Doyle, a senior attacker from Troy, Mich. (Troy Athens), started all 19 games for Kalamazoo this year. She led the team in assists (37), adding 24 goals for 61 points with 20 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. This is her second Academic All-District Award.

A senior midfielder from Ada, Mich. (Forest Hills Central), Hartl played all 19 games, starting 17, in 2026. She finished second on the team in both draw controls (61) and ground balls (43), scoring 36 goals and nine assists for 45 points. A one-time MIAA Specialist of the Week, Hartl earned Second Team All-MIAA along with her second time being named to the Academic All-District team.

Spooner, a senior attacker from Holland, Mich. (West Ottawa), started all 19 games for the Hornets. She broke Kalamazoo records for single-game points (12), career goals (231) and points (287), leading the team in goals (69) this season, placing second in points (94) and caused turnovers (33), and third in assists (25) and draw controls (58). She earned the Hornets' first-ever All-Region honor, placing on the Second Team All-Great Lakes Region from the IWLCA, along with being First-Team All-MIAA and earning her second Academic All-District honor.

This season, the Hornets went 10-9 with a 5-2 record in MIAA play, tied for the most wins total and in conference in program history. Kalamazoo also won a game in the MIAA Tournament for the first time in the team's 13-year history.
