Kalamazoo College earned a program-record five women's lacrosse All-MIAA selections, as the conference announced its award winners and all-conference teams Tuesday. Ella Spooner was named to the first team, while Tessa Fuller, Sophie Hartl, Kennedy Hynde and Annslee Ware each earned a place on the second team.
A senior midfielder from Holland, Mich. (West Ottawa), Spooner was tied for third in the MIAA in goals per game in conference play (3.57), third in caused turnovers per game (2.00), and eighth in points per game (4.86), totaling 25 goals and nine assists with 14 caused turnovers. This is Spooner's third All-MIAA honor and second consecutive season on the first team, and her 69 total goals on the year ranks #9 in the country while she's #20 in total points at 93.
Fuller, a junior attacker from Spring Lake, Mich. (Spring Lake), led the Hornets and tied for fourth in the conference in points per game (5.29) on 24 goals and 13 assists. The 2024 MIAA Rookie of the Year, Fuller is now a three-time All-MIAA honoree, and her 92 total points on the year is good for #23 nationally.
A senior midfielder from Ada, Mich. (Forest Hills Central), Hartl had strong all-around production, finishing the regular season ninth in draw controls (3.43), tied for 10th in ground balls (2.71), tied for 11th in goals (2.86), tied for 13th in caused turnovers (1.29), and tied for 14th in points (3.43) per game in the conference. This is Hartl's first All-MIAA recognition in her career.
Hynde, a junior midfielder from North Muskegon, Mich. (Reeths-Puffer), finished second in draw controls per game (6.71), tied for seventh in ground balls per game (2.86) and tied for 11th in caused turnovers per game (1.43) across the MIAA. She earned five MIAA Player of the Week awards (4 Specialist, 1 Defensive) en route to her first All-MIAA selection, and her 6.44 draw controls per game overall on the season ranks #23 in NCAA-III.
Finally, a junior defender from Hendersonville, Tenn. (Pope John Paul II Prep), Ware placed second in the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.29) and tied for 18th in ground balls per game (2.29). This is the first All-MIAA award of Ware's career.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse went 5-2 in MIAA play, tying for the best record in program history, and is 10-8 overall. The Hornets continue the MIAA Tournament, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union, Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Hope College.
