The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team swept the MIAA weekly awards for the second consecutive week, announced by the conference on Monday, April 27. Tessa Fuller earned Offensive Player of the Week, Annslee Ware won Defensive Player of the Week, and Sophie Hartl was named Specialist of the Week.
A junior attacker from Spring Lake, Mich. (Spring Lake), Fuller scored 12 goals with five assists and five ground balls in two games. She scored a career-high eight goals in the Hornets' MIAA Tournament win over Trine Saturday, adding a career-high five ground balls and two assists.
Ware, a junior defender from Hendersonville, Tenn. (Pope John Paul II Prep), collected seven ground balls, six caused turnovers, one goal and three assists in two games last wek. She had two points in both games, and tied a career high in caused turnovers with four on Saturday.
A senior midfielder from Ada, Mich. (Forest Hills Central), Hartl secured 19 draw controls, scored six goals with two assists, and picked up five ground balls in two games last week. She posted a career-high 10 draw controls in the Hornets' regular season finale win over Albion, scoring four goals in that game as well.
The honors were the second in a row for Fuller and Ware, while Hartl earned the first MIAA Specialist of the Week honor of her career. Hartl also has one MIAA Offensive Player of the Week award in her career.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse continues the MIAA Tournament, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union, at Hope College on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Holland, Mich.
