Kalamazoo College outfielder Robert Newland earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, announced Wednesday, April 1. It's the second honor this season for Newland, who was also named to the Team of the Week on February 18.
A senior from Bloomfield Hills, Mich. (Bloomfield Hills), Newland collected multiple hits in all four games for the Hornets last week, hitting .571 (12/21) with two home runs, two doubles, seven stolen bases, seven runs scored and eight RBIs on the week.
Newland leads all of NCAA III in stolen bases on the year with 27. He also leads the Hornets and ranks #30 in the country in batting average (.464) and is #23 in the nation in hits (39), while he sits tied for 25th in runs (34) and RBIs (33).
Kalamazoo baseball takes on Calvin University Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Grand Rapids, Mich. as MIAA play continues.
