KALAMAZOO, Mich.– The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost its series finale against Alma College Saturday at Woodworth Field, 7-6.
Alma scored one run in the second and third innings before the Hornets scored twice in the bottom of the third to tie it. Cade Preissing hit a two-RBI single in the fourth to give Kalamazoo the 4-2 lead.
The Scots answered quickly with two in the fifth, regaining the lead with one more in the sixth. After Preissing tied it with an RBI double in the sixth, Alma took the lead back by scoring one run in both the seventh and eighth.
Kalamazoo scored one in the bottom of the eighth, but had the potential tying run thrown out at home to end the inning. The Hornets put runners at second and third in the ninth, but could not score.
Preissing led the Hornets with four hits and three RBIs in the loss. Austin Keur collected three hits and scored three runs.
Kalamazoo (29-7, 13-5) will look to bounce back in its final series of the regular season against The University of Olivet (15-19, 7-11) next weekend. Game one will be in Olivet, Mich. on Friday at 4 p.m.
