Izzy Kastel was selected as the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Commitee) Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday.

A junior defender from Kalamazoo, Mich. (Mattawan), Kastel was recognized for her defensive performance in Kalamazoo's three games last week. Playing all 270 minutes, Kastel anchored a defense that did not allow a goal and allowed only 19 shots.

On the season, Kastel has played every minute of all seven games (630 minutes) and the team has not allowed a goal all season.

Kalamazoo (6-0-1) returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Elmhurst University.
