Five members of the Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday, June 18.
Jack Bungart,
Max Plesscher,
Colby Skinner,
Cam VanGalder, and
Mitchel VanGalder each earned this academic recognition.
To earn this honor, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and have played at least 90% or start in 66% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Bungart, a junior defender from Bloomfield Hills, Mich., earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor after an outstanding season. He led the Hornets in both ground balls (59) and caused turnovers (39), setting new program records for both single-season and career caused turnovers (101).
Bungart was named an All-MIAA First Team Defender, selected to the USILA Team of the Week (March 5), and honored as the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week (March 3).
As a junior, Â he has totaled 151 ground balls, 101 caused turnovers, seven points, four assists, and three goals.
Bungart was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
Plesscher, a junior from Haslett, Mich., ranked third on the team with 48 ground balls this season.
Starting all 14 games, he added nine caused turnovers, five points, three goals, and two assists. His career totals now include 86 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers, 11 points, six goals, and five assists.
Skinner, a senior defender from Richland, Mich., finished the year with 40 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers, ranking second on the team in that category.
He holds the program record for career games played (56) and wraps up his Hornet career with 144 ground balls, 64 caused turnovers, seven points, four assists, and three goals, ranking fourth all-time in career caused turnovers.
Cam VanGalder, a senior from Paw Paw, Mich., ended the season fourth on the team in goals (19), while contributing 27 points, 25 ground balls, eight assists, and six caused turnovers.
He concludes his career at Kalamazoo with 76 points, 75 ground balls, 61 goals, 15 assists, and 13 caused turnovers.
Mitchel VanGalder, also a senior from Paw Paw, Mich., was second on the team in goals (24) and third in total points (29) this season. He recorded 16 ground balls, five assists, and two caused turnovers.
Over his time with the Hornets, he totaled 49 points, 36 goals, 36 ground balls, 13 assists, and six caused turnovers.
The Hornets wrapped up the 2025 season with an overall record of 6-8 and went 1-5 in MIAA conference play.
