Men's Lacrosse Wins Season Opener in Double Overtime

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team won its season opener 8-7 in double overtime over Wabash College Wednesday night at MacKenzie Field.

Kalamazoo trailed 5-3 at halftime and 6-3 midway through the third quarter. Kalamazoo scored late in the third and early in the fourth to make it a 6-5 game. Wabash pulled ahead 7-5 with 10:08 left in regulation. Kalamazoo scored with 3:35 remaining before tying it with 19 seconds on the clock. Neither team scored in the first four-minute overtime period. Kalamazoo's Tate Bless scored the game-winner with 2:05 on the clock in the second overtime.

Kalamazoo outshot Wabash 41-36 overall, 21-20 on goal. The Little Giants won 12 of the 19 faceoffs.

Dylan Adkins led Kalamazoo with two goals and two assists.

Max Plesscher and Tate Bless each had two goals and an assist.

Brody Quinn led the team with six ground balls. Jack Bungart was credited with three caused turnovers and four round balls. Tony Valade was credited with 13 saves in goal.

Kalamazoo is back in action at home on Saturday, Feb. 21, when the Hornets host Wilmington at 12 p.m.
