Emma Newlove was selected as the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday, April 29^th, for events through April 27^th.

The junior from Tecumseh, Michigan, helped lead the Hornets to a 5-1 record over the week. After a 10-11 loss to North Park on Monday, Kalamazoo bounced back to win the second game 9-6.

The Hornets then swept Albion on Thursday with 4-2 and 9-0 victories and closed out the week by defeating Alma on Saturday, 6-0 and 6-2.

Newlove had an impressive showing at the plate, going 11-for-23 (.478) with four doubles, two home runs, 11 RBIs, and six runs scored. She finished the week with a .913 slugging percentage.

So far this season, Newlove is batting .337 and leads the team in RBIs (30) and slugging percentage (.684). She's also recorded nine doubles, two triples, and seven home runs, setting both the single-season (7) and career (15) home run records for the program.

Kalamazoo's overall record stands at 21-13, tying the mark for the most wins in school history.

The Hornets are set to close out conference play on Saturday, May 3, with a doubleheader against Adrian beginning at 1:00 p.m.
