Adrian, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College softball team came up short in a Saturday doubleheader against Adrian, falling 12-4 in game one and 8-0 in game two on May 3rd. The Hornets close out the regular season with a 21-15 overall record and a 9-7 mark in MIAA Conference play.
Game One, L -12-4
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the first inning with a three-run home run to left center. They continued to add on runs in the second and third innings to take an 11-0 lead.
Kalamazoo got on the board in the fourth inning off a
Bella Caza home run to center field to drive in
Macy Ward and
Jordan Wesaw to make it an 11-3 game.
In the fifth inning, Wesaw singled to right field to score
Jaycee Rider to turn it into an 11-4 game.
The Bulldogs ended the game in the fifth inning with a single to right field to take the 12-4 mercy rule win.
Maddy Vrba got the start in the circle and suffered the loss (8-5).
Bella Caza went 1-1 with three RBIs, while
Jordan Wesaw went 2-3 with one RBI.
Jaycee Rider and
Brenna Fisher each added a hit for the Hornets. Additionally, Fisher recorded a steal to tie her for the season program record at 32 stolen bases.
Game Two, L – 8-0
Adrian was first on the board in the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs continued to add on runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings to win 8-0.
Jordan Cook got the start in the circle and suffered the loss (6-7).
Brenna Fisher went 2-4,
Emma Newlove and Jayce Rider both went 1-3, and
Bella Caza 1-2.
