Kalamazoo College's
Lukas Broadsword was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced on Tuesday, March 25
th. He was the only member of the men's basketball team to receive this honor.
To earn this award, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played in at least 90% or start in 66% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
A senior from Boise, Idaho (Centennial), Broadsword capped off his career at Kalamazoo as the team's leader in five statistical categories for the 2024-25 season: points, field goals, free throws, rebounds, and blocks. He also ranked second in assists and third in steals.
Broadsword finished the season with 343 points (13.7 per game), 214 rebounds (139 defensive, 75 offensive), 64 assists, 21 blocks, and 20 steals. He shot a .543 from the field, sinking 127 shots, and posted a .586 free throw percentage. He also notched eight double-doubles throughout the season.
On February 2nd against Calvin, Broadsword reached a historic milestone, becoming just the seventh player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds. He also carved out his own place in the record books as the first and only player in Kalamazoo history to achieve over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 assists. He concluded his career with 1,038 points, 628 rebounds, and 247 assists.
The Hornets wrapped up the season with a 10-15 record.
