GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team fell to No. 22 Calvin 108-75 on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets fall to 9-14 overall and 2-10 in MIAA Conference play.
The Hornets' bench recorded 43 points compared to the Knights' 34. Defensively, Kalamazoo forced 19 turnovers and grabbed 10 steals converting them into 24 points.
Nelson Sompa led the charge with four steals.
Jackson Keefer paced the Hornets 14 points, knocking down two three-pointers.
Lukas Broadsword contributed 12 points and five rebounds, reaching a major career milestone by surpassing 1,000 career points with a layup in the second half.
Broadsword is now the seventh player in Kalamazoo College history to record 1,000 points and haul in more than 500 rebounds, currently standing at 1,005 points and 605 rebounds.
Carter Bandemer and
Bradley Eziuka chipped in 8 points each for the Hornets, while
DJ Ferguson and
Dougie Blackwood notched up five points each.
Gavin Van Kampen led the team on the glass with six rebounds and added four points.
The Hornets return to Anderson Athletic Center on Wednesday, Feb. 19
th for their home finale against Trine University at 7 p.m.
