Volleyball Seniors Honor Most Valuable Professors

The 2025 Kalamazoo College volleyball seniors have selected their Most Valuable Professors to recognize this season.

The Hornets selected Dr. Sharon Colvin, Dr. Santiago Salinas, Dr. Eric Barth, and Dr. Regina Stevens-Truss.

Tatum Casper selected Dr. Sharon Colvin from the Psychology Department as her MVP because of her peaceful energy that she brings to each class. Dr. Colvin makes her think differently, motivates her to learn, and connects lessons to real life. She does a great job making Casper feel seen as a person, not just a student. She makes her classroom a safe and welcoming space.

The next MVP was Dr. Santiago Salinas from the Biology Department, selected by Josee Cooke. Dr. Salinas was selected because of the support and guidance he has provided throughout Cooke's time at K. As her academic advisor, Dr. Salinas has always been helpful in selecting classes and being a helpful guide as to what she wants to do in the future. He always is interested in talking sports and wants to know how her teams are doing. She is so thankful for his guidance throughout the years and has learned so much from him.

Rachel Meston chose Dr. Eric Barth from the Mathematics Department as her MVP. Dr. Barth always believes in his students, reminding them that we are all mathematicians. He shows genuine interest in his students' lives, dedicating himself to helping them succeed. He inspired Meston to continue to explore a career in teaching mathematics. His love for math and commitment to his students' success are truly contagious.

The final MVP was Dr. Regina Stevens-Truss from the Chemistry and Biochemistry Departments, selected by Brittany Miller. Miller picked Dr. Stevens-Truss because she has helped her thrive and enjoy her decision to be a biochemistry major. Dr. Stevens-Truss is 100% committed to every student she teaches, and it is evident that she cares deeply about making a personal connection with them. She understands the balance of student-athlete life, always makes time for questions outside of class, and makes it to many of her home games to show support. Miller is grateful for her support and dedication and feels so lucky to have had an incredible mentor and professor over the past four years.

On behalf of the athletic department, THANK YOU to these Most Valuable Professors for positively influencing our student-athletes. Your work is greatly appreciated!

Kalamazoo College senior athletes have the opportunity to recognize their Most Valuable Professors throughout the 2025-26 season.
