GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team traveled to take on Denison on Wednesday evening (Dec. 14). The Big Red took control of the game early and did not look back, handing the Hornets a 91-52 loss.

Two early threes by Josh Decker helped Kalamazoo take an early lead. However, this would be the only lead the Hornets would have as Denison took over at the 15-minute mark. After that, the game would go back and forth as Kalamazoo did not let the deficit grow above seven over the next nine minutes. Unfortunately, Dension closed the half by outscoring Kalamazoo 22-8 to take a 43-28 lead into the locker room.

The Hornets faced a significant scoring drought to open the second half, as they were outscored 19-3 in the first eight minutes. This run opened the game enough for Denison to control the remaining of the match-up. Big Red ended up gaining a 39-point win over Kalamazoo in the end.

Decker led the Hornets in scoring with 11 points and made three field goals from behind the arc. DJ Courtney was the second Kalamazoo player in double figures with 10 points. Sam Coleman and Decker grabbed four rebounds a piece, while Bobby Samples finished with four assists.

Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets were Addison Atwater (6), Carter Bandemer (6), Caleb Caul (5), Lucas Hanifan (5), JJ Stevens (5), and Ty Horky (4). Denison hit 51.5% of their shots compared to Kalamazoo's 32.7%, and the Big Red also hit 44.8% of shots from three. Denison finished with more rebounds (42-29), assists (21-12), steals (8-3), and blocks (6-1).

Kalamazoo has a quick turnaround with another road game on Thursday (Dec. 15) when the team travels to Capital, as tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
