KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team fell, 96-70, to Trine University Wednesday at Anderson Athletic Center on Senior Day. The Hornets' seniors also honored their Most Valuable Professors before the game.
Both teams shot lights out from deep in the first half, and Trine took a 50-44 lead into the locker room. The Thunder shot 52.9% overall and 57.9% for three, while Kalamazoo was 50.0% from the field, 60.0% from three-point range, and had a narrow 17-16 advantage in rebounds.
The Thunder stayed strong in the second half, securing the victory by shooting 50.7% for the game overall and 44.4% from deep. The Hornets finished shooting 41.5% from the field and 40.0% beyond the arc.
Lucas Hanifan was Kalamazoo's leading scorer with 17 points, adding two rebounds. JJ Stevens picked up 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds with two assists.
Caleb Caul and Carter Bandemer each scored eight points, with Bandemer adding five rebounds and a pair of assists. Dougie Blackwood chipped in a team-high three assists with six points and three rebounds.
Kalamazoo men's basketball finishes the season Saturday at 3 p.m. at Alma College.
