ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost a back-and-forth thriller at Albion College Saturday, 74-71.
Albion took a 39-33 lead into halftime behind 53.8% shooting from the field and 22.2% from three-point range. The Hornets shot 44.0% from the field and 25.0% from deep in the first half, and the Britons had a slim 17-15 advantage in rebounds.
Kalamazoo used a 23-12 push over an eight-minute span midway through the second half to grab a 65-62 lead, with Zander Nash scoring nine points in the run. Albion climbed back, shooting 6-for-9 the rest of the way to take the victory.
The Britons finished the game at 47.5% shooting from the field and 26.3% from downtown. The Hornets shot 42.9% overall and 30.0% for three.
Nash, Carter Bandemer and Lucas Hanifan tied for a team-high 13 points. Hanifan also led the Hornets with eight rebounds and two steals, while Bandemer and Nash had four rebounds each.
Caleb Caul added nine points and three rebounds. Nelson Sompa and Connor Kouki both had three assists, with Sompa scoring seven points to six for Kouki.
Kalamazoo men's basketball heads back home for its Senior Day on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Trine University at Anderson Athletic Center.
