Big second half powers women's lacrosse

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Powered by an attacked which produced 12 second half goals, six of which were scored by Amanda Moss, the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team picked up a 15-9 win over Alma College Tuesday evening at MacKenzie Field in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.

Down 4-3 at halftime, Kalamazoo hit its stride in the second half starting the half with seven unanswered goals in the first nine minutes of play. Nicole Huff allowed the Hornets to keep their momentum as she dominated the draws, accounting for 11 total draw controls.

Four different Hornets ended the night with multi-goal games including Vethania Stavropoulos (4), Caroline Mundell (2), Huff (2) and Moss (6).

Katie Johnson made nine saves on the evening and posted a .500 save percentage coming up with multiple key saves in the second half allowing K to extend its lead.

Stavropoulos and Huff were a force not only on the attack but also defensively combining for eight ground balls and three caused turnovers.

The Hornets, now 3-4 in the MIAA, close the regular season on Thursday, April 27 with a home game against Adrian.
