Kalamazoo College forward Lauren Vanderstelt was named MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week Tuesday (Feb. 17).
A senior from Plainwell, Mich. (Plainwell), Vanderstelt scored 31 points with 26 rebounds and 16 blocks in two games last week, earning back-to-back double-doubles.
On Wednesday, Vanderstelt scored 17 points with 13 rebounds and seven blocked shots in a double overtime win at Adrian. In another overtime contest against Albion on Saturday, she added 14 points, 13 rebounds, and a career-high nine blocks that was the second-most in a game in school history.
Vanderstelt is currently #1 in NCAA-DIII in blocked shots both total (92) and per game (4.0), along with leading the MIAA in rebounds (239, 10.4 per game). She is second for the Hornets in scoring at 10.1 points per game as well.
Kalamazoo women's basketball plays its final two games of the regular season this week, starting Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Saint Mary's before coming home to face Alma for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Anderson Athletic Center.
