Jacob Davis of the Kalamazoo College baseball team was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday, March 5
th.
He becomes just the second pitcher in Kalamazoo history and the fourth Hornet overall to earn this recognition.
Earlier this week, Davis also secured a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week and was honored as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week.
A senior from Perrysburg, Ohio (St. John's Jesuit), Davis delivered a dominant performance in the Hornet's weekend series, pitching a complete-game shutout in a 4-0 victory over Earlham.
He was nearly unhittable, allowing just one hit – a leadoff single in the fourth inning – while setting a new program record for the fewest hits allowed in a nine-inning game. Davis previously held the record with a three-hit performance against Calvin in 2024.
Additionally, Davis struck out 13 batters, tying for the second-most strikeouts in a single game in Kalamazoo history, while issuing only four walks.
Davis holds a 1-1 record on the mound this season, with 16 strikeouts, nine hits allowed, and six walks.
The Hornets return to action on March 8-9 as they travel to Bloomington, IL, to face Elmhurst and Illinois Tech.
