Baseball Tops Trine, Ties Program Record With 11 Consecutive Wins

KALAMAZOO, Mich.– The Kalamazoo College baseball team won, 16-7, over Trine University Monday at Woodworth Field to finish off a three-game sweep of the Thunder. The win pushed the Hornets' winning streak to 11 games, tying a program record.

Trine scored one run in the first and four in the second to take an early 5-0 lead, but it was all Hornets from there. Kalamazoo scored five in the bottom half, tying the game on a three-run double by Ryar Rinehart.

The Hornets scored two more in the third, with Jackson Isaacs knocking an RBI single to break the tie. Kalamazoo then added five more in the fourth, kicked off by a solo blast from Rinehart, to make it 12-5.

After the Hornets added two more runs in the fifth to make it 14-5, the Thunder scored one run each in the sixth and seventh to bring the score to 14-7. Kalamazoo scored two more in the seventh to finish the scoring.

Rinehart finished a triple shy of the cycle with five RBI, while Isaacs also added three hits, scoring two runs with two RBIs. Logan Lockhart drew four walks and scored four times.
