Softball Splits Saturday Games in Florida

LEESBURG, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a pair of one-run games on Saturday, defeating Allegheny 5-4 before falling 1-0 to Loras.

Kalamazoo vs. Allegheny

Kalamazoo won Saturday's opener 5-4 over Allegheny College. The Hornets scored four runs in the first, highlighted by Kelsey Diekman's 3-run double. Kalamazoo led 5-1 after four innings. Allegheny scored one in the sixth and two in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run on first when the Hornets recorded the final out.

Kalamazoo had six hits in the game. In addition to Diekman's three RBIs, Lizzy Rottenberk and Lucy Hart each drove in a run.

Jordan Cook struck out six while scattering nine hits in the win.

Kalamazoo vs. Loras

Kalamazoo lost a pitchers dual 1-0 to Loras College Saturday afternoon. The Duhawks (13-1) had six hits in the game and scored the only run in the top of the sixth inning. 

Sam Moss had both of Kalamazoo's hits. She also pitched all seven innings, striking out seven and walking two.
