Softball Splits Double Header with Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split its games with Manchester winning game one 8-2 while falling 10-9 in game two. 

Game 1

The Hornets defeated Manchester 8-2 Saturday afternoon in game one of two. 

Kalamazoo got out to an early 5-1 lead after three innings. The Hornets scored one in the fifth and two more in the seventh to out-pace Manchester's one in the final frame. 

Keelin McManus led Kalamazoo with two hits and one RBI while scoring two runs. 

Andrea MacMichael and Sammi Luzadre each collected one hit while driving in one run. 

MacMichael broke Izzy Krick's career runs record with her two runs scored in the game.  

Luzadre collected her eighth win and struck out two batters.

Game 2

Kalamazoo dropped the second game 10-9 in eight innings. 

Manchester got out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Kalamazoo scored four of its own in the third and fourth innings. 

The Hornets were outscored eight to five in the final five frames which secured the win for Manchester. 

Luzadre led Kalamazoo with three hits including two RBI and two runs scored. 

Ashley Schiffer and Nikki Gorder each collected two hits while scoring one run. 

Kalamazoo returns to play Monday, April 15 as it travels to Wheaton for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
