Softball splits Saturday games in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Kalamazoo College softball team split a pair of games in Florida on Saturday.

Kalamazoo vs. Tufts

Kalamazoo lost its morning contest 19-1 to Tufts University (11-3 overall). The Hornets trailed 4-0 after two innings before giving up big innings in the third and fourth.

Izzy Kirck, Keelin McManus and Sammi Luzadre were each credited with a hit in the game.

Kalamazoo vs. Wellesley

Kalamazoo scored runs in each of the first three innings and led 4-1 after four innings. The Hornets added runs in the sixth and seventh to secure the win.

Kalamazoo had 11 hits in the game while Keelin McManus limited Wellesley to just four hits to earn the win on the mound.

Izzy Kirck was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Briana Huisken had a pair of hits including a double. Anna Majewski, Hayleigh Alamo and McManus also doubled in the game.

The Hornets are off Sunday before playing two games on Monday and Tuesday.
