Box Score 2 JACKSON - The Kalamazoo College softball team lost a conference doubleheader to Adrian on Tuesday, 5-0 and 10-6. The games were played at Jackson Community College due to unplayable field conditions in Adrian.
The first two innings of the opener were scoreless before Adrian pushed the first run across in the bottom of the third. The Bulldogs added four runs over the next three innings to secure the 5-0 win.
Adrian had 10 hits in the game compared to six for Kalamazoo. The Bulldogs also took advantage of two Hornet errors.
Grace Mathieu was 2-for-3 to lead the Kalamazoo offense. Madeline Sinkovich, Emma Patrash, Abby Anderson, and Rayanne Burl each singled for the Hornets.
Adrian scored five runs in the top of the first inning in the second game. Kalamazoo battled back, however, scoring two runs in the third and three runs in the fifth to even up the score. Adrian regained the lead in the sixth with a pair of runs while adding three insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Adrian had 12 hits in the game while Kalamazoo had 10. The Bulldogs made three errors in the game, but took advantage of five walks while Kalamazoo did not have a single free pass.
Dana Page was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead Kalamazoo. Madeline Sinknovich was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Rachel Epstein had a double while Emma Patrash, Rayanne Burl, and Katie Mattison each had a single.
Kalamazoo is scheduled to return to action with a doubleheader at Saint Mary's College on Thursday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m.
