The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team will travel to the Denison University in Granville, Ohio, for the opening rounds of the 2026 NCAA III Championships.
Kalamazoo is scheduled to face Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) in a second-round match on Saturday, May 9. Match times are to be announced and will be updated on hornets.kzoo.edu.
Kalamazoo earned the MIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships with a 4-1 win over Hope College in the MIAA Tournament championship this past Friday inside Kalamazoo's Markin Tennis Center. Kalamazoo also won the MIAA regular season title with a 7-0 league record. The Hornets are 15-5 overall and are were ranked No. 31 in the nation in last week's (April 29) Division III rankings.
WashU, Kalamazoo's second-round opponent, received one of the nine at-large bids in the 44-team tournament. Ranked No. 14 in last week's rankings, WashU is 13-9 overall. The Bears competed in the UAA Championships April 23-25, falling to No. 16 Emory University and No. 20 Brandeis University, while defeating No. 62 University of Rochester.
A first-round match featuring No. 32 Carthage (22-3) and Illinois Tech (14-5) will take place Friday, May 8, at Denison. The winner of that match will face No. 2 Denison (25-2) in the second round on Saturday, May 9. The winner of that contest will face the winner of the Kalamazoo/WashU match on Sunday, May 10, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals on May 19 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
This marks Kalamazoo's 49th appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships. The Hornets have won seven national championships and finished as runner-up four times.
