Kalamazoo College men's tennis had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced on Tuesday, May 12. Derek Blackwell, Sebastian Courtright, Cameron Crosby and Will Seymour each earned the honor.
To earn the distinction of CSC Academic All-District honors, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and must be in the lineup for 75% of an institution's days of competition.
A sophomore from Troy, Mich. (Troy), Blackwell went 20-7 in singles play, primarily at #3, and 9-14 in doubles, mostly at #2. He was even better in MIAA action, going 7-0 at #3 singles and 5-2 in doubles including 4-1 at #2, earning Second Team All-MIAA honors.
Courtright, a sophomore from Eastpointe, Mich. (University Liggett), finished the season 15-6 in singles, 13-5 at #5, and 9-14 at doubles including 5-4 at #3. In conference, he went 6-0 in singles and 4-3 in doubles.
A sophomore from South Lyon, Mich. (South Lyon), Crosby went 20-7 in singles play including 15-6 at #1, and 14-10 in doubles including 12-8 at #1. He was named MIAA MVP after going 7-0 at #1 singles and 5-1 at #1 doubles in conference play.
Seymour, a sophomore from Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich. (University of Detroit Jesuit), earned a 20-10 record in singles, going 13-8 at #4, and an 8-13 record in doubles, mostly at #2. In conference, he went 6-1 at #4 singles and 4-3 in doubles competition.
This season, the Hornets won the MIAA regular season and tournament championship, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
