Eight Kalamazoo College football student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Jaylen Bowles-Swain, Raymond Cargill, Jack Duggins, Dillon Gacki, Kyler Maiorana, Ben Maurice, Alex Pepin and Mario Pomorski earned the honor.
To earn the distinction of CSC Academic All-District honors, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and appear in at least 90% of the team's games or start 66% of the team's games.
Bowles-Swain, a senior defensive back from Canton, Mich. (Summit Academy), played in nine games this season, starting six for the Hornets. He accumulated 26 tackles, one for loss, with one forced fumble and one pass breakup on the season.
A junior linebacker from Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Central), Cargill played and started all 10 games this season for Kalamazoo. He led the team with 94 tackles, placing third in the MIAA, along with 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup this year. It's Cargill's second consecutive season earning an Academic All-District honor.
Duggins, a junior linebacker from Muskegon, Mich. (Spring Lake), played nine games on the year for the Hornets, starting three. He finished the season with 27 tackles, 1.5 for loss.
A senior defensive lineman from Wixom, Mich. (Lakeland), Gacki played and started nine games this season. He tied for second on the team in sacks (2.5) along with 26 total tackles, 4.5 for loss.
Maiorana, a sophomore running back from Harrison Township, Mich. (Parkway Christian), played in all 10 games for Kalamazoo this year, starting one. He led the Hornets in rushing attempts (101) and yards (313), and was tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns (3). He added 11 receptions for 87 yards on the season along with four tackles on special teams.
A senior defensive back from Oak Park, Mich. (Berkley), Maurice played in nine games on the year, starting seven. A big play generator, he led the Hornets in forced fumbles (2), returned an interception 69 yards for a touchdown in Kalamazoo's win over Anderson (IN), and finished the season with 37 tackles, 0.5 for loss, with two pass breakups.
Pepin, a senior defensive back from Grandville, Mich. (Grandville), played in nine games for the Hornets in 2025, starting six. He finished with 23 tackles, 0.5 for loss, and tied for the team lead with one fumble recovery. It's Pepin's second consecutive Academic All-District honor.
Lastly, a sophomore offensive lineman from Sterling Heights, Mich. (Fraser), Pomorski played and started all 10 games for Kalamazoo this season.
The Hornets finished the season 4-6 overall and 1-6 in MIAA play.
