Kalamazoo College's Lucas Hanifan was selected to the D3football.com All-Region Third Team, announced Wednesday.
A senior wide receiver from Chelsea, Mich. (Chelsea), Hanifan was honored as a kick returner. On returns, Hanifan averaged 22.2 yards per kick return, with the longest of his 19 returns going for 70 yards, and he had three punt returns for 48 yards.
Additionally, he led the MIAA and ranked tied for #2 in all of NCAA-DIII in receptions (97), led the conference and was #13 nationally in receiving yards (1062), and his 10 touchdowns were tied for second in the conference and #33 in the country at the end of the regular season.
Hannifan's 97 receptions also established a new program record, besting Jimmy Semelsberger's 96 in 2009, his 1,062 yards was sixth-most in a season, and 10 touchdowns were tied for third-most by a Hornet. He finishes his career second in Kalamazoo history in receptions (222), receiving yards (2704), and touchdowns (26).
Hornet football finished the season 4-6 and 1-6 in MIAA play.
