Kalamazoo College first baseman Ryar Rinehart was selected as a D3baseball.com Preseason Third Team All-American, announced Wednesday.
Rinehart, a senior from Rockford, Mich. (West Catholic), has already had a storied career for the Hornets, taking home MIAA MVP honors as a freshman in 2023 to go along with Third Team All-American recognition from D3baseball.com and fourth team All-American honors from ABCA/Rawlings that season. He set new single-season school records in home runs (10) and RBIs (72), with his 72 runs driven in also leading all of NCAA DIII in 2023.
Over the last two seasons, Rinehart has continued to impress, earning back-to-back Second Team All-MIAA selections, along with being named Second Team All-Region by both D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings last year, when he hit .375 with a new Kalamazoo College record 14 home runs, leading the MIAA in home runs (14), slugging percentage (.720), RBIs (62), and finishing second in the conference in hits (63).
This year, Rinehart will look to add to his program record for career home runs (30) and he enters the season No. 2 on the Hornets' all-time RBI leaderboard as well, currently with 162 career runs driven in, just 18 behind record-holder Harrison Poeszat's 180.
The Hornets start the 2026 season at Caltech on Friday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. PST (5 p.m. EST).
