Kalamazoo College's Jacey Merkle was named MIAA Women's Golf Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 29.

A sophomore from Saugatuck, Mich. (Saugatuck), Merkle was recognized for her performance at the MIAA Jamboree this past week. She shot a two-over 74, earning medalist honors for the event and tying the second-best score in program history. Merkle's stellar performance helped the Hornets to win the Jamboree by one stroke over Trine, shooting 315 as a team, the second-lowest round in school history.

Merkle was an MIAA Academic Honor Roll member last year as a freshman.

The Kalamazoo College women's golf team is back on the course Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the MIAA Jamboree in Marshall, Mich., hosted by Olivet.
