MARSHALL, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's golf team won the Kyle Campbell Memorial Tournament hosted by Olivet at The Medalist Friday and Saturday. Kalamazoo's Saturday score (309) also set a new school record.
Kalamazoo held a three-stroke lead over Saint Mary's after shooting 329 on Friday. Kalamazoo's school-record 309 on Saturday gave the Hornets a two-day total of 638 and a 21-stroke advantage over second-place Saint Mary's (659). Sixteen teams competed in the tournament.
Jacey Merkle finished second overall with a two-day total of 154 (78-76).
Jillian Smith was third overall at 158 (82-76).
Ellie Britt tied for sixth with a 160 (85-75).
Gabrielle Sluss tied for 15
th at 166 (84-82).
Kalamazoo will continue to prepare for the start of the MIAA season scheduled to begin Sept. 22 with an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin.
