Ruby Hogan and Lauren Vanderstelt Named to the BCAM Women's College Academic-Athletic Honor Team

Kalamazoo College's Ruby Hogan and Lauren Vanderstelt were named to the 2025 Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) Women's College Academic-Athletic Honor Team for the 2024-25 athletic year.

Each BCAM Academic-Athletic Honor Team pays tribute to five outstanding scholar-athletes from Michigan colleges and universities at the NCAA I, NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA levels.

To be eligible, players must be nominated by their BCAM member coach, be either a starter on an important reserve, have reached sophomore standing, have participated in at least 50% of the team's games, and have at least a 3.0 GPA. The BCAM teams are selected on the basis of academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, and extra-curricular activities.

Hogan, a sophomore from Cedar, Mich. (Glen Lake), led the Hornets in all but three statistical categories this season, establishing herself as the team's standout performer in points, field goals, free throws, assists, steals, and minutes played.

She totaled 861 minutes on the court (34.4 per game), contributing 401 points (16 per game). Hogan made 141 field goals and 101 free throws, shooting 43.0% from the field and 75.9% from the line. She also led the team with 111 assists, averaging 4.4 per game.

Defensively, Hogan tallied 49 steals, averaging 2 per game.

Capping off the 2024-25 season, Hogan tied the program's single-game scoring record with a career-high 34 points against Alma. She also moved into fifth place in single-season points and tied for fourth in single-season assists in program history.

Vanderstelt, a junior transfer from Plainwell, Mich. (Plainwell/Calvin), made an immediate and lasting impact in her first season with the Hornets. She led the team in rebounds and blocks, while finishing second in points, field goals, and free throws.

Her 70 blocks set a new single-season record for Kalamazoo, surpassing the previous mark of 63 held by Mya Gough (2019–20), and earning her the title of the program's all-time leader in blocks.

Vanderstelt also collected 220 rebounds (151 defensive, 69 offensive), ranking fourth in school history for a single season.

She averaged 32.6 minutes per game and totaled 260 points (10.4 per game), 99 field goals—including 21 from beyond the arc—25 assists, and 16 steals.

Over the course of the season, she posted five double-doubles, showcasing her versatility and consistency on both ends of the court.
