Kalamazoo College's
Lauren Vanderstelt was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced on Tuesday, March 25
th. She was the only member of the women's basketball team to receive this honor.
To earn this award, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played in at least 90% or start in 66% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
A junior transfer from Plainwell, Mich. (Plainwell/Calvin), Vanderstelt made a significant impact for the Hornets this season. She led the team in rebounds and blocks while ranking second in points, field goals, and free throws.
With 70 blocks this season, Vanderstelt became Kalamazoo's all-time leader, surpassing the previous single-season record of 63 set by Mya Gough (2019-2020). She also secured 220 rebounds, placing her fourth overall in program history.
Vanderstelt finished the 2024-25 season averaging 32.6 minutes per game, contributing 260 points (10.4 per game), 220 rebounds (151 defensive/69 offensive), 70 blocks, 25 assists, and 16 steals. She made 99 field goals, including 21 three-pointers, and recorded five double-doubles throughout the season.
The Hornets concluded their season with a 9-16 record.
