Kalamazoo College Head Men's Soccer Coach
Mike Haines officially announced additions to the men's soccer staff today. Joining the team are
Ty Usiak as Assistant Coach and
Carl Whitehouse as Assistant Coach (Goalkeepers).
Scott Haas will take on the role of Director of Soccer Operations, while
Kasey Haines and
Logan Cloud will contribute as Social Media Coordinators.
Ty Usiak, Assistant Coach
Usiak joins the staff after graduating from Western Michigan University with a degree in exercise science in 2024. He previously coached with the Midwest United-Kalamazoo Soccer Club.
Usiak played four and a half years of Division I soccer for the Broncos, twice advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16. He also helped the Broncos win one MVC (Missouri Valley Conference) regular season championship, one MVC Tournament championship, and one MAC (Mid-American Conference) Tournament championship.
Carl Whitehouse, Assistant Coach
Whitehouse was the men's and women's goalkeeper coach at Western Michigan University from 2001-2004, helping guide both teams to MAC (Mid-American Conference) championships in 2003. He was head men's soccer coach at Davenport University from 2007-2011, guiding the Panthers to a WHAC (Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference) championship in 2010 while also earning WHAC Coach of the Year honors. Whitehouse also coached the Michigan Fire Juniors from 2014-2020 and began coaching the Michigan Rangers FC in 2020.
Whitehouse played for the Kalamazoo Kingdom PDL from 2000-2003. He played collegiately at Aquinas College in 2001 and 2004, earning All-American honors and a WHAC championship in 2001. He played at Davenport University in 2005 and 2006, earning All-American honors and a WHAC Tournament championship in 2005. A native of a native of Wolverhampton, England, Whitehouse holds a USSF D License and Levels I, II and III Goalkeeper Diplomas.
Scott Haas, Director of Soccer Operations
Haas coached girls club soccer with Kalamazoo Soccer Club from 2015-2019. He was the head JV coach and assistant varsity coach for the boys and girls teams at Loy Norrix High School from 2020-2025. The JV boys teams record winning seasons all five years including a 13-2-1 record in 2023 and a 14-2-2 record in 2024.
Haas earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Western Michigan University in 1995 and a master's degree in special education in 2001. He has been teaching at-risk youth at Kalamazoo Regional Educational Services Agency (KRESA) for 28 years.
Kasey Haines, Men's Soccer Social Media Coordinator
The daughter of Head Coach
Mike Haines, Kasey grew up playing soccer and played at Mattawan High School as well as club soccer. During high school, she began helping train goalies of all ages. During her senior year, Kasey and her dad coached a u9 girls team, leading Kasey to a love of coaching soccer.
A 2023 graduate of Michigan State University, Kasey looks forward to gaining experience in social media while being around the game she loves.
Logan Cloud, Men's Soccer Social Media Coordinator
A 2021 graduate in electrical technology from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Cloud has a variety of media experience. He currently works as a sales consultant at Seelye Ford in Kalamazoo and runs his own brand, "CarsViaCloud" on social media.
