GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 at Southwestern University Friday night. The host Pirates improved to 3-0 on the season while Kalamazoo fell for the first time in three games (2-1).
After a scoreless first half,
Lucas Ruiz scored off a rebounded shot by
Ben Battreall just 23 seconds into the second half. Southwestern tied it with a header off a corner kick in the 55
th minute before scoring the game-winner off a free kick in the 82
nd minute.
Southwestern outshot Kalamazoo 26-9 overall, 7-4 on goal. The host Pirates also had nine corner kicks to Kalamazoo's four.
Jackson Janderwski was credited with five saves in goal.
Kalamazoo returns to action Sunday evening at Trinity University in San Antonio.
