KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split the first conference doubleheader with Hope on Friday winning 6-3 in the opener before falling 20-1 in the second game.

Game One
Kalamazoo defeated Hope 6-3 in the first game of the MIAA season. Kalamazoo led 1-0 after the second inning and held that lead until the top of the sixth when Hope evened the score. Kalamazoo responded in the bottom of the sixth with five runs making it a 6-1 game. Hope rallied in the top of the seventh with two runs and put two runners on before ending the game with a pair of strikeouts.

Harrison Poeszat was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Ben Chosid had a single and drove in two runs. Doug Propson doubled and scored a run.

Jack Brockhaus improved to 3-0 on the season while allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings. Propson came on with one out in the seventh and recorded the final two strikeouts to earn his third save of the season.

Game Two
Hope won the second game, 20-1. After a scoreles three innings, Hope scored eight runs in the fourth while holding Kalamazoo to one in the bottom half. The Flying Dutchmen would score 12 more runs over the next two innings.

Hope had 15 hits compared to five by Kalamazoo.

Noah Hecht was 2-for-3 with a double. Doug Propson also had a double. Trevor Hunsanger drove in the only run for the Hornets.
