Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split a doubleheader at Trine on Wednesday. Kalamazoo lost the opener 2-1 before winning the second game 5-3.

Game One

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Stefan Leclerc scored on Austin Duff's groundout.

Trine scored both of its runs on a double in the bottom of the fourth, the Thunder's only hit of the game. Kalamazoo had the tying run on second base with two outs in the top of the seventh, but flew out to end the game.

Parker Sisovsky allowed just one hit over six innings while striking out six and walking two.

Kalamazoo managed just four hits in the game led by Noah Hecht's two singles. 

Game Two

The score was tied 1-1 after the first inning and remained that way until the Hornets scored two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and one in the eighth to go up 5-1.

Trine mounted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth with two runs before eventually fouling out with the bases loaded to end the game 5-3.

Alex Fultz led the Hornets offensively with three hits including a double.

Blake Bean had a pair of doubles while Zach Prystash, Blake Bean, and Austin Duff also had two hits apiece.

Brendan Gausselin also had a double while Noah Hecht drove in two runs.

Jack Tagget earned the win allowing just three hits over five innings while striking out seven. Doug Propson recorded the final out for the save.

The Hornets are back in action Friday, April 5 with a doubleheader at Hope. Kalamazoo is scheduled to play its home opener against Hope at 1 p.m. Saturday.
