ALMA, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split its games at Alma on Sunday afternoon. The Hornets defeated the Scots 5-3 in the first game before falling 8-6 in game two.

Game 1

After allowing two runs in the first inning, Kalamazoo brought five runners of its own across home plate in the second and third innings to take an early lead. The Hornets surrendered just one more in the sixth to secure the 5-3 win. 

Kalamazoo tallied seven hits to Alma's five. The Scots also committed three errors while the Hornets had just one. 

Austin Duff and Doug Propson led Kalamazoo offensively. The duo each had two hits while driving in and scoring one run a piece. 

Senior Jordan Wiley went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs while walking once. 

Noah Hecht and Zach Prystach each had one hit and scored one run each. 

Jack Tagget collected his third win of the season on the mound. The junior struck out five batters while allowing three runs on five hits. 

Game 2

The Scots got out to an early lead in game two with five runs in the second inning. After the Hornets scored three times in the fifth and sixth, Alma answered with three of its own in the bottom of the sixth. Kalamazoo added one in the seventh and two in the ninth, but was unable to complete a comeback. 

Kalamazoo out-hit Alma 12-7 in game two. 

Propson delivered a career-high four hits in five at-bats. The freshman drove in one run while scoring another. 

Each of the other eight Hornet starters tallied one hit. Hecht and Stefan Leclerc both reached base three times by walking twice. 

Wiley scored a run and walked while also adding two stolen bases to his season total. 

The Hornets are scheduled to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 against Olivet. The series begins with two games at Olivet before wrapping up in Kalamazoo on Sunday at 1 p.m.
