Men's Lacrosse drops first road test

Box Score

LISLE, Ill. – Playing its first road game in 2017, the Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team fell to Benedictine 14-4 in non-conference play Saturday afternoon.

With the Hornets trailing 2-0, Brett Fitzgerald got Kalamazoo on the board off and assist from Harrison Ramsey. A 9-0 run from Benedictine to end the first half made the chances of a comeback from K difficult in the second half.

Doug Shipp tried to start the comeback at the beginning of the second half scoring at the 11:23 mark and cutting the deficit to 11-2, but the Hornets weren't able to score again until the fourth quarter. Andrew Frye and Fitzgerald both scored in the game's final quarter off assists from Clapton Marquis.

Kalamazoo managed to force Benedictine to commit 24 turnovers, but were unable to capitalize throughout the contest.

With today's result, the Hornets fall to 1-2 on the season. They head back home this Friday for another non-conference match-up, this time with Heidelberg. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
