RICHMOND, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College lost both games of a doubleheader at Earlham College on Sunday, falling 20-6 in the opener and 9-2 in the series finale.

Kalamazoo fell behind early in the opener, trailing 9-1 after three innings. The Hornets made it an 12-6 game after the top of the seventh, but the host Quakers put up five runs in the bottom half and three more in the eighth.

Earlham had 19 hits in the game compared to nine for Kalamazoo. Each team made three errors and 25 total runners were left on base.

Scott Devine was 2-for-5 with a home run and a single. Ian Kobernick had a double while Mitchell VanKoevering drove in two runs with a triple in the fourth.

Ty Rock (0-1) took the loss on the mound in his first career start.

Kalamazoo took the early lead in the second game with two runs in the top of the first. The Hornets used back-to-back triples by John Jackoviak and Carter Chandler to push the runs across.

Earlham took advantage of a four run second inning to take the lead while adding runs in the third, fourth, seventh and eighth innings to seal the win.

Earlham had 13 hits in the game compared to five for Kalamazoo.

Jack Clark was 2-for-3 for Kalamazoo with a pair of singles and a stolen base. VanKoevering started the rally in the first with a single.

Brent Yelton (0-1) took the loss in four innings of work in his first career start.

Kalamazoo is currently scheduled to open MIAA play on Thursday, March 13 against Calvin.
