KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split a doubleheader with league-leading Adrian on Sunday at Hyames Field.

Kalamazoo won the opener 5-4 on a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Adrian led 3-2 after three innings before Kalamazoo took a 4-3 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Bulldogs scored the tying run in the top of the seventh inning.

K.J. Schultz led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and moved to second on Marc Zughaib's walk. Anthony Shaheen loaded the bases as a result of an error on his sacrifice bunt, and Scott Devine hit a deep fly ball to right to plate the winning run on the sacrifice fly.

Dylan Pierce earned the complete game win for Kalamazoo, allowing seven hits in seven innings.

Kalamazoo had five hits in the game and took advantage of five Adrian errors.

K.J. Schultz was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Scott Devine finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Anthony Shaheen and Eric Glanz also had a hit for the Hornets.

Adrian came back to win the second game, 3-2. Kalamazoo scored two runs in the second inning before Adrian put three on the board, including the eventual game winner, in the top of third.

Kalamazoo had seven hits in the game compared to five for Adrian. Joey Aliotta was 2-for-3 with a double. Marc Zughaib was 2-for-4 including a single in the bottom of the seventh.

Mickey Amboyan was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. K.J. Schultz and Adam McDowell each had a single.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to travel to Alma on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
