ADRIAN - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost a pair of games at Adrian College on Saturday, 13-3 and 2-1.

Adrian led 2-1 after three innings in the opener before scoring seven runs in the fourth. Kalamazoo responded with a pair of runs in the fifth, but was unable to get any closer in the 13-3 defeat.

Adrian had seven hits in the game while limiting Kalamazoo to three. Scott Devine, Mickey Amboyan, and K.J. Schultz each singled for the Hornets. Devine and Marc Zughaib each drove in a run.

Adrian scored two runs on three hits in the first inning of the second game and held on for the 2-1 win. Kalamazoo scored a run in the top of the seventh and had the tying run on third base, but a double play ended the threat for the Hornets.

Adam McDowell pitched all six innings and did not allow a hit or a run after the first inning.

Kalamazoo had four hits in the game, including three in the seventh inning.

Brett Thomas was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Marc Zughaib and Scott Devine each had a single.

Kalamazoo and Adrian are scheduled to complete the series on Sunday with a doubleheader at Western Michigan University's Hyames field beginning at 1 p.m.
