HOLLAND, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's outdoor track and field team finished eighth at the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union, Thursday and Friday at Hope College.

Ava King shined for Kalamazoo, finishing second in both the 1500m, at 4:40.13, and the 800m final, at 2:16.11, to earn All-MIAA honors.
Zara Strauss kicked the Hornets off for day two by earning a point with an eighth-place finish in the javelin at 28.84m. Kalamazoo's 4x400m relay team of Gwyneth Dunaway, Kali Bunce, Zenaida Sackett and King placed sixth at 4:15.38.
Nora O'Leary had a strong run in the 5000m, coming home ninth at 18:05.09.
Thursday Results
King had the highlight performance of the day for the Hornets, advancing to the finals in the 800m with a new personal best time of 2:15.28. The time was the fastest of the day, making her the top seed in Friday's final, and the #80 time in NCAA-III this season.
Alyse Baughman notched a PR in the hammer throw at 38.32m, narrowly missing the final. Grace Murphy added a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing ninth at 11:40.69.
Kalamazoo women's track and field will make their final attempt to earn NCAA-III Championship qualifying times at the Saint Francis Fighting Chance Invite and Augustana Final Qualifier next Saturday and Sunday, May 8-9.
