Kalamazoo College men's swimming and diving had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced on Tuesday, April 8. Trustin Christopher, Reed Dixon, Zach Heikka and Zander Ligman all earned the honor.
To earn the distinction of CSC Academic All-District honors, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and either appear in at least 75% of competitions, finish top-eight at a conference meet, or participate in a national championship.
A senior from Farmington Hills, Mich. (Walled Lake Western), Christopher also earned the MIAA Senior Impact Award, serving as team captain for the Hornets. He was a part of the 200 medley relay team that finished fourth at MIAA Championships.
Dixon, a sophomore from Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Central), was a member of the 400 medley relay team that finished second at MIAA Championships. He was also a part of the 200 medley relay that placed fourth and the 800 free relay that placed fifth, along with swimming a PR 2:00.40 in the 200 backstroke at the MIAA meet.
A junior from Milan, Mich. (Milan), Heikka earned Academic All-District for the second year in a row. Heikka finished seventh in both the 100 and 200 backstroke at MIAA Championships, and was on the 400 medley relay team that placed second.
Ligman, a sophomore from Kalamazoo, Mich. (Loy Norrix), won the 3m dive and placed third in the 1m dive at MIAA Championships. He went on to earn a spot in the NCAA-III National Championships, finishing 17th in the 3m dive and 22nd in the 1m dive at the national championship meet.
The Hornets finished third in the MIAA Championships with a team score of 402, capturing individual titles in the 1m and 3m dives.
