The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team will host Trine University in a semifinal match in the MIAA Tournament Presented by Collegiate Credit Union at Stowe Stadium on Wednesday, April 29, at 4 p.m. Admission to all MIAA Tennis Tournament matches is free and no ticket is required.
The Hornets earned a first round bye as the No. 1 seed in the tournament after winning the MIAA regular season championship with a 7-0 record. Trine entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed with a 4-3 league record. The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will compete for the MIAA Tournament championship on Friday, May 1, at the highest remaining seed (Time TBD), with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships.
Kalamazoo defeated Trine 6-1 in the regular season match on April 16 in Angola, Ind. Trine won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point before Kalamazoo won all six singles matches. MIAA Tournament matches are played to completion with the match ending as soon as a team earns four points.
Cameron Crosby enters the tournament at the top of the lineup with a 12-6 overall record at one singles (7-0 MIAA record). Alex Fleming is 12-6 overall at two singles (6-1 MIAA). Crosby/Fleming have a 9-6 record at one doubles on the season (5-1 MIAA).
