Women’s Tennis to Host Trine in MIAA Tournament First Round

The Kalamazoo College women's tennis team will host Trine University in the first round of the MIAA Tournament Presented by Collegiate Credit Union at Stowe Stadium on Tuesday, April 28, at 5 p.m. Admission to all MIAA Tennis Tournament matches is free and no ticket is required.

The Hornets tied for second in the regular season standings with a 6-2 league record (12-6 overall), but entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed through the tiebreaker. Trine enters as the No. 5 seed with a 4-4 league record (15-5 overall). The winner of Tuesday's first round match will travel to No. 1 Hope for a semifinal match on Thursday, April 30, at 4 p.m. The highest remaining seed will compete for the MIAA Tournament championship on Saturday, May 2 (Time TBD), with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships.

Kalamazoo defeated Trine 7-0 in the regular season match on April 4 in Angola, Ind. Kalamazoo won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point before winning all six singles matches. MIAA Tournament matches are played to completion with the match ending as soon as a team earns four points.

Juliana Pullen enters the tournament at the top of the lineup with a 16-2 record at one singles (7-1 MIAA record). Addison Lyons is 14-4 overall at two singles (7-1 MIAA). Pullen/Lyons have a 15-3 record at one doubles on the season (7-1 MIAA).
