ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's outdoor track and field team collected multiple personal bests at the GVSU Al Owens Classic on Saturday.
Carson Cook set new lifetime best marks in the 800m (1:57.43), to finish 21st out of 73 runners, and in the 1500m (4:01.11), also finishing 21st out of 80 runners in that event. Bram Derksen finished 16th in the 110m hurdles at 15.89.
Sam King (15:55.20) and Tyler VanderZanden (15:59.88) both set new PRs in the 5000m, while Nolan Park (15:54.13) led all Hornet runners in the event. Devin LaMar had the best result for Kalamazoo in both the discus (38.64m) and shot put (12.55m).
Jeremy Salomon led the Hornets in the 100m (11.59) and 200m (23.35). John Lonsway was sixth out of 11 runners in the 3000m steeplechase at 10:15.90, and Aidan Paquin placed 19th out of 34 athletes in the long jump at 6.13m.
Kalamazoo men's track and field will split the team between the Hillsdale GINA Relays from Thursday through Saturday and the Calvin Invite on Saturday.
