HOLLAND, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's outdoor track and field team placed eighth at the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union, Thursday and Friday at Hope College.

Carson Cook had a standout performance for the Hornets, placing fifth in the 1500m at 4:03.28, also coming in fifth in the 800m finals at 2:00.43. Bram Derksen scored in the 110m hurdles, placing eighth in the finals at 16.02.
Henry Cox earned a sixth-place finish in the 5000m at 15:13.87. Kalamazoo's 4x100m relay team of Jeremy Salomon, Aidan Paquin, Levi Godin and Jackson Janderwski finished seventh at 44.05.
The Hornets' 4x400m relay team of Salomon, Connor Brown, Drew Abbott and Cook also came home in seventh at 3:31.44.
Thursday Results
Sam King highlighted the Hornets' efforts in day one with an incredible run in the 3000m steeplechase, setting a new PR by 25 seconds to finish fourth at 9:48.99. John Lonsway also ran a personal best in the steeplechase, finishing ninth at 10:01.05.
Jack Schneider added a stellar performance in the 10,000m, finishing fifth in his first time competing in the event at 32:15.92.
Cook qualified for the finals in the 800m, finishing seventh in prelims at 1:56.75. Derksen also advanced to the finals in the 110m hurdles, posting a time of 15.59.
Ethan Romey made the finals in the shot put but finished ninth at 13.09m to just miss scoring. Devin LaMar was 10th in the shot put at 12.87m and threw a PR 41.44m in the hammer throw.
Kalamazoo men's track and field will make their final attempt to earn NCAA-III Championship qualifying times at the Saint Francis Fighting Chance Invite and Augustana Final Qualifier next Saturday and Sunday, May 8-9.
