Kalamazoo College men's cross country and track & field was represented by Sam King on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, announced on Tuesday, June 23.
To earn the distinction of CSC Academic All-District honors, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and must have a top-50 individual performance at the NCAA regional cross country competition or have a top-50 regional ranking in a single track & field event (indoor or outdoor).
A sophomore from Traverse City, Mich. (Traverse City West), King placed fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase at MIAA Outdoor Championships, one of the highlight performances of the season for the Hornets, at 9:48.99, good for 25th in the region and a the #185 time in all of NCAA-III this season.
This season, Kalamazoo men's cross country finished third in the MIAA, the program's best finish in the conference since 1998. The Hornets also competed in track & field for the first time since 1980, earning several podium finishes in MIAA competition including an MIAA title in the indoor 5,000m run by Jack Schneider.
