Kalamazoo College baseball swept the MIAA Player of the Week awards, the conference announced Monday. Carson Orvis earned Pitcher of the Week honors and first baseman Ryar Rinehart was named Position Player of the Week.
A sophomore from Swarz Creek, Mich. (Swartz Creek), Orvis threw six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out nine batters for his second win of the season in an 11-1 victory at Oberlin College Sunday.
A senior from Rockford, Mich. (West Catholic), Rinehart had a tremendous performance in Sunday's doubleheader sweep at Oberlin, going 5-for-7 (.714) with a home run, double, walk, two runs and 7 RBIs. The D3baseball.com Preseason Third Team All-American is already up to five home runs on the season, hitting .415 with 28 RBIs in just 12 games.
The honor is the sixth for Rinehart in his career (4/21/25, 2/24/25, 4/22/24, 5/1/23, 4/17/23), while Orvis earned his second career Pitcher of the Week award (3/10/25).
Kalamazoo baseball returns to the diamond for five games in six days on the team's spring break trip to Florida, starting with a matchup against UMass Dartmouth on Thursday, March 19 at 9:30 a.m. in Winter Haven, Fla.
